As in the case of all lottery games, Canadian Lotto 6/49 is extremely easy to play as all players have to do is choose six numbers from 1 to 49 for as many as 10 boards at a cost of $2 each.
Alternatively, players can ask for a Quick Pick at lottery retailers and the Lotto 6/49 terminal will randomly select their numbers for them.
ENCORE is also available as an addition to the Lotto 649, with each board costing an extra $1.
To win a prize, players need to match the numbers drawn. A total of six regular numbers and one Bonus number are drawn.
6 Matched Numbers Wins Lotto 6/49 Jackpot
Players who match six out of the six numbers win 80.5% of the pool, and this Saturday's Lotto 6/49 draw could see one lucky winner take home at a $21 million jackpot.
Five out of six numbers plus the bonus earn the players 5.75% of the pool.
Three correct selections out of six earns winners a $10 prize, with the odds of winning one in 56.7. Two correct numbers out of six plus a bonus yields $5 prize, while the chance of winning any prize in the Lotto 6/49 is one in 32.8.
In October, Lotto 6/49 will be running a special promotion which will give players the chance to win big cash from an additional draw that will take place alongside the month's nine regular draws.
Win $100,000 A Year For Life
Lotto fans stand to win a special annuity prize of $100,000 a year for life as part of the Lotto 6/49 bonus promotion. The way it works is that six additional winning numbers will be drawn for the bonus prize for each draw in October.
Players must match all six bonus prize numbers to win. The winners of the bonus draw will have the opportunity to choose between receiving a $100,000 annuity prize or a one-third lump sum cash payment of $1.5 million.
This unique new prize is a way of improving Lotto 6/49 and enhancing the
player's gaming experience. Should the prize be won by two people in the same
draw, the annuity prize will not be available and the lump sum cash payment will
be equally shared amongst the winning ticket holders.
In addition, if the Lotto 6/49 bonus prize is won by a group, they will have to
take the lump sum payment. Also, there are no subsidiary prizes available on the
bonus draw.
