Net Entertainment's progressive slot game, Mega Fortune, is the toast of the online gambling industry this week, after it paid out a record-breaking €17.8 million progressive jackpot (CA$ 23.5 million).

It was reported that one extremely shocked middle aged Finnish gambler hit the world's biggest slots jackpot payout in history by bagging the €17.8 million windfall at a Net Entertainment powered online casino on the weekend.

"This win is completely off the charts for these kind of games," said the head of press and public relations at the online casino where the hit was recorded on January 20th. "The whole gaming world has been holding its breath during this fall and winter, while the jackpot has just kept on growing."

"As this jackpot was pooled, which means that it is shared by several gaming companies, we are naturally very happy about the fact that the jackpot was again won by one of our customers," said the executive. "Our players seem to have an incredible good flow at the moment."

Mega Fortune Slots Breaks Another Record

This is the second time that Mega Fortune progressive slot game has broken a world record for the highest online slot game payout.

In September 2011, a young player from Sweden managed to hit the jackpot on this game, earning himself €11.7 million, as well as entry into the Guinness Book of World Records for the largest slots jackpot payout in history.

The latest €17.8 million win, however, means that the world record has been topped by a cool €6 million, which means a new entry into the Book of World Records.

Net Entertainment Congratulates Winner

Net Entertainment, which supplies Mega Fortune slot game (as well as hundreds of other titles) to the industry was the first group to congratulate the lucky Finnish winner of the latest jackpot payout.

"This is our second word record jackpot in online gaming," said the Chief Executive Officer of Net Entertainment, Per Eriksson. "The large liquidity within the slots with progressive jackpots enables the growth of these jackpots, which is great news for the operators."

"We want to congratulate the winner of this record jackpot and hope to turn many more players into millions in the future," he added.

It was reported by Net Entertainment that the €17.8 million Mega Fortune jackpot winnings will be paid out to the winner, absolutely tax free, immediately.
