Canadian Poker Tour to Launch Major Championship Event
Canadian Poker players are in for a real treat, thanks to an announcement made by HeadsUp Entertainment International regarding the launch of the SIGA Poker Championship in October.
The major event poker championships will be held at the Dakota Dunes Casino outside of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
This is the first time that Heads Up International, which operates the Canadian Poker Tour, the Canadian Poker Player Magazine and the Canadian Poker Player Television Network, is partnering with the Saskatchewan Indian Gaming Authority (SIGA).
The President for the Canadian Poker Tour, Dan Forigo, said: "We are extremely pleased to be working with SIGA. We look forward to building a long and profitable relationship with them and are confident that the events we are working on in 2012 will continue to grow."
Satellites in Six Canadian Casinos
The SIGA Poker Championship will be a $500 buy in two-day event (October 1st and 2nd), and satellites to the championship are being held at the six First Nations casinos across the province, as follows:
-
Bear Claw Casino (Moose Mountain National Park)
-
Dakota Dunes Casino (Saskatoon)
-
Gold Eagle Casino (North Battleford)
-
Living Sky Casino (Swift Current)
-
Northern Lights Casino (Prince Albert)
-
Painted Hand Casino (Yokton)
The poker championships mark major efforts by HeadsUp Entertainment to bring quality poker events to land based casinos across the country.
Since the success of Canadian players at the World Series of Poker event, beginning with last year's winner Jonathan Duhamel, more and more poker fans are keen to improve their skills online, as well as at top poker events without having to travel abroad to do so. These efforts made by the Canadian Poker Tour will hopefully result in growing competition and prizes to match.
