Canadians Welcome Americans Not So Much
As a Canadian I have often been the butt of lumberjack, 'eh' and 'oot', baby
seal and Mounty jokes, usually fired at me by those arrogant folks to the south
of Canada. (I mean Americans for those of you may be thinking Mexico ;-). Now I
don't consider myself a vengeful or even particularly nasty person, but I have
to admit that as a HUGE online gambling fan, I got some satisfaction from
the U.S. online gambling ban.
Why, because it meant that online gambling was one of the few things Americans
could no longer brag about. You see, their own government tried to introduce an
'online gambling prohibition' when Congress passed its anti-online gambling
legislation at the end of 2006, which George W. Bush (remember him?) passed into
law soon thereafter. So now people born and bred in the 'most free and
democratic' country on the planet no longer had the freedom to choose for
themselves to gamble online or not. Classic!
I may live in a country where we chop down a lot of trees, wear flannel shirts,
boast a red-uniformed police force on horseback or even condone the annual
culling of baby seals, but man as Canadians we are a lot more free than
Americans when it comes to online gambling. As Matt Damon said in the often
quoted scene from the movie Good Will Hunting, 'how do you like them apples?'
Wow, reading back what I've just written, perhaps I am a bit nastier than I thought. Then again, maybe I'm just reacting to the fact that Americans have had their online gambling voice' muted by their own government. So the next time you're gambling at an online casino (like Spin Palace Casino, for example) and you see a bunch of flags representing the players, languages and/or currencies accepted, spare a thought for out neighbours down south when you notice that their flag is missing.
Speaking of Spin Palace Casino, check out their generous CAN$1,000 welcome bonus offer that is valid for a whole year! No kidding, check it out.
Catch you later,
Canadians Welcome
