Indianapolis Colts at San Francisco 49ers NFL Preview and Odds
The Indianapolis Colts will meet the San Francisco 49ers in a week three match-up in which the loser will dip to 1-2. Both teams were beaten a week ago, the Colts were 24-20 losers to the Miami Dolphins and the Seattle Seahawks routed the 49ers 29-3.
Seattle outscored the 40ers 17-0 in the fourth quarter to break open a game that was delayed in the first quarter by lightning and was 5-0 at the half. Marshawn Lynch gashed the Niners defense for three second half touchdowns, two rushing and one receiving, and the Seahawks defense shut down Colin Kaerpernick and the San Francisco offense.
The Seahawks held Kaepernick to 13 of 27 for 127 yards. In the Niners only threat to score, he was picked off in the end zone.
Andrew Luck didn't have as difficult of a time against the Dolphins defense, although he was sacked five times. Luck actually had a chance at pulling the game out in the fourth quarter. The Colts trailed by four late in the game and drover the ball into Miami territory. They had to score a touchdown to win the game and on fourth down around the 25 yard line, Luck was sacked by Philip Wheeler, ending any hopes of a comeback.
Now both will meet in a game where the loser will fall to 1-2. That is not the start either of these two second year quarterbacks had in mind following their wildly successful rookie seasons.
Bodog has the Colts a 10 point underdog against the spread and +350 on the Moneyline. The 49ers are -10 ATS and -500 on the Moneyline.
We like the Colts to beat the spread in this game but we like the 49ers -500 to win the game.
The Colts have a good team already and they just got better with the pick up of running back Trent Richardson earlier this week in a trade with the Cleveland Browns. Richardson is a talent out of Alabama. Perhaps Cleveland did not know how to get him the ball where he could do damage. Something tells us that the Colts will know how to use him effectively.
But Kaepernick and the 49ers offense will be looking to redeem themselves for the poor showing of last week. Look for Anquan Boldin to rebound with a big game this week.
Over/Under for the game is 47. Both the over and the under are -110. We think the over is a virtual lock in this game. Look for these quarterbacks to put on a good show as each try to prove who the best of the 2012 rookies is. Russell Wilson, Robert Griffin III and Ryan Tannehill may have something to say about that though.
Another interesting side note about this game is that Andrew Luck played his college ball near San Francisco at Stanford University where his head coach was 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh. If there are Stanford fans at the game, their loyalties will be split.
