A $30 million payout is not a rare occurrence for Canada's Lotto Max, but it has changed the life of one auto worker from Hamilton in Ontario. The lucky winner has quit his job and is now contemplating how to spend his lottery fortune.

Auto Worker Wins $30 Million Lottery Jackpot

Nicholas Takticos had just finished his night shift as a paint inspector in the Toyota plant in Cambridge. He is a regular lottery player and decided to check his ticket from the August 30 draw. He could not believe his eyes when the numbers matched and to make things even better he turned out to be the sole winner of that draw's jackpot.

The reaction of this self-proclaimed 35 year old comic nerd was just like that of any other big lottery winner. He double checked and tripled checked the ticket and after he was sure that he had got it right, he immediately called his mother and said, "We did it. I think we won Lotto Max."

As expected, Nicholas's mother did not believe him and her first reaction was, "C'mon". Nicholas is extremely close to his mother, who single-handedly raised him. He describes their togetherness saying, "Not everybody is lucky enough to have that relationship with their mom -- and it's just me and her, her and me."

Before winning the jackpot Nicholas was very happy at his workplace. He thought that Toyota was a great company. It offered him a job that allowed him to pay his bills and have a lot of fun. But after Labor Day he told his boss that he did not want to work anymore. The Hamilton Tiger-Cats fan is currently single, but dating. He said that his phone bills are rising sharply after his winning the jackpot.

Speaking at the lottery headquarters Nicholas said that he did not want to buy anything big on an impulse. He even did not have any concrete plans about his future. But there were two things on his mind. He wanted to upgrade from his present car, a Toyota Celera, to a Lexus. He loves Muskoka and northern Ontario, and speaking about his future he said, "It's going to be something up there, because that's really where my heart lies."

Subsequent Draws Of Canada Lotto Max

The best thing about Lotto Max is that big wins keep on coming. The jackpot for the September 6 draw was carried forward. Then on September 13 one ticket won $15 million. The jackpot for the September 20 draw stands at $10 million. Draws are held across Canada every Friday.
