Lotto 649 Winner Yet To Claim
Normally purchasers of lottery tickets check to see if they have won soon after the draw. After all that is why they have bought the ticket in the first place.
However, there have been occasions when winners have not claimed their prizes for weeks and even months. Sometimes they forget or cannot find the ticket. One such story is developing in Saskatoon in Lotto 6/49.
6/49 Canada Lottery Winning Ticket Unclaimed
Lotto 6/49 is one of the more popular lotteries in Canada. It is drawn every Saturday. On August 31 a single ticket won the prize. Western Canada Lottery Corporation revealed that the amount of the prize was $14,797,843.00 and the winning numbers were 5, 6, 24, 29, 35 and 39.
It was also revealed that the winning ticket was sold in Saskatoon. In fact it was the largest winning ticket ever sold in Saskatoon. It beat the previous high by a whisker. That record was of $14.657 million on the draw of February 15 2006.
On Tuesday after the draw it was reported that no one had yet stepped forward to claim the prize. This was surprising because $14.8 million is not a small amount. Till date there has been no news of the winner.
Western Canada Lottery Corporation does not reveal where in the city the winning ticket was sold as a part of its verification process. As and when the winner claims the prize, an interesting story is sure to emerge. The public would be interested in knowing the reasons for the delay.
Welcome Changes In Lotto 64/9
The Western Canada Lottery Corporation has announced a number of new features in the Lotto 64/9 lottery that will go into effect from the draw of Saturday September 14. The highlight is the Guaranteed Prize Draw.
Andrea Marantz, spokesperson for the corporation, explained the feature. For every set of numbers entered into the main jackpot draw, a special number will be automatically entered into a separate draw for a $1million prize. A draw will then be made from those numbers for the new prize.
This will ensure that a winner is guaranteed every time. It also means that two $1 million prizes will be won every week. Western Canada Lottery Corporation will make 104 new millionaires each year.
Lotto 6/49 jackpots will now start at $5 million. Also a free play prize category has been added for players who match just two of six numbers. Marantz said, "That means a player's chance of winning a prize on their ticket improves from 1 in 32 to 1 in six."
