Diner Workers Win $15m Lotto 649 Jackpot
The Atlantic Lottery confirmed today that the latest winners of this week's Lotto 6/49 lottery draw were from Kentville, Nova Scotia.
It was reported on the local radio on Thursday morning that workers from a family style restaurant, the Snack Shack in Kentville, won $15 million in the June 19th draw.
Later, the Atlantic Lottery confirmed that the winning ticket was indeed bought in Kentville, but did not release the identity of the winners.
According to Atlantic Lottery, which represents the governments of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland, and Labrador and Prince Edward Island, the prize was worth $15.2 million.
The lottery corporation said that it would release more information about the winner or winners when someone came forward to collect the prize at its head office in Moncton.
Diner Workers Confirm Lottery Win
While Atlantic Lottery was not prepared to confirm that the winners were made up of staff at the Snack Shack, the Herald News reports that it called the diner early on Thursday morning and a woman by the name of Mary answered the phone.
The newspaper quoted Mary as saying: "Yes, we did win, and I'm sorry but I'm very busy right now."
Asked whether anyone else was available to answer questions about the diner workers winning the $15 million jackpot, Mary apologized, said no and then hung up the phone.
