Manning Vs Manning on Sunday in New York
The Denver Broncos will take on the New York Giants this Sunday in New York. Peyton Manning will take on his brother Eli Manning in what should be an entertaining game. The two brothers do not like it when they have to play each other. After all, one of them has to lose. Ask the Harbaugh brothers who that feels as they had to do it in the Super Bowl.
The Mannings may well find out what that is like too because both of these teams are certainly contenders to meet back in New York in February. We wonder how Archie likes this game.
The Broncos have had a lot of time to prepare for this one. They haven't played a game since putting a good thumping on the Super Bowl Champion Baltimore Ravens a week ago Thursday. Peyton and the offense looked razor sharp in putting up 49 points on the defense-oriented Ravens. New weapon Wes Welker had a fine Denver debut with nine catches. Demaryius Thomas had five catches for 161 yards and two touchdowns, one a 78 yarder.
The Giants lost their opener to the Dallas Cowboys. But despite five turnovers, the Giants still only lost the game 36-31. If they can do a better job holding on to the football, they can beat anybody. Eli threw for four touchdowns on Sunday, but it was his three interceptions that really hurt.
The Broncos and Giants have some history together. These two franchises met in the 1986 Super Bowl (actually played in January 1987). The Giants behind Phil Simms and Lawrence Taylor beat the Broncos and John Elway for the franchise first Super Bowl win. The Giants have won three more Super Bowl championships since then while the Broncos have won two.
Bodog has the Broncos -4.5 -105 and the Giants +4.5 - 115 ATS. Moneyline is Denver -200 and the Giants +170. Over/Under is 55 with both over and under -110.
This is a tough one to pick. The Giants should be the more desperate team as they try to avoid going 0-2. Statistics show that since 1990 only 11% of 0-2 teams went on to make the playoffs. But the Broncos looked so good in their opener it is tough to pick against them. Also having the extra three days to get rested for this game should make them all the better.
Manning looks as good as he ever has even at his advanced age (that's Peyton Manning). He is a big time player especially in the regular season. Eli is more of a playoff stud. He sometimes struggles early in the season. But he should really be up for this game.
Few teams play better than the Giants when they are being counted out of a game. We are going to take the Giants +4.5 and the over -110.
