A Vancouver man who won a $25 million Lotto Max jackpot last year has made headlines again after giving a diner owner a whopping $10,000 gift last week, after hearing his story.

Bob Erb initially made headlines in the fall when he said that he would do all he can to legalize marijuana in Canada using his new lottery fortune.

Since his lucky ticket purchased at the Hazelton gas station in BC hit, Erb has given away over $7 million to various charities, admitting that he gives randomly to people who he believes need assistance.

This was the case when he walked into the Old West Express diner in Chamberlain, Saskatchewan last week.

Five Figure Tip by Lottery Winner

According to the diner owner, Clifford Luther, he got an incredible surprise when Erb handed him the $10,000 gift.

Speaking to CTV news about the LottoMax winner tip, Luther said: "I thought 'well, they're good burgers and fries but they're not that good. I'm still amazed at the whole thing," he said.

The gift - or tip as some people are calling it - was no doubt given after Erb felt the distress of Luther, who had only hours ago discovered that his daughter had been diagnosed with cancer.

"That was kind of weighing on our hearts and maybe he felt it," said Luther, who plans to use the money to take a trip to the West Coast to see his daughter as soon as possible.

Bob Erb won half his share of a $50 million Lotto Max ticket, sharing it with a player from Alberta, in November last year.

The 60 year old vowed to donate to charity and continue working part time. "I won't be buying a home gym, so I'll work for the exercise," said the construction worker.
