That is indeed the million dollar betting question as this year's installment of the world's biggest professional tennis tournament gets underway at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in the leafy London suburb of Wimbledon.

After winning last year's US Open - the first and so far only grand slam of his career so far - Murray has been elevated to almost pop star status in the UK, as he is the arguably the most talented player to hail from the British Isles in recent years, and one who is more than talented enough to win the 2013 Wimbledon men's singles championship.

Murray Faces Stiff Competition

That said, Murray faces stiff competition in the form of the usual suspects, which include current Wimbledon men's singles betting favorite and world number one Novak Djokovic of Serbia, world number five Rafael Nadal of Spain, and of course defending champion and world number three, Roger Federer of Switzerland.

It won't be lost on betting fans that Murray - a native of Scotland - is currently world number two, and a with a coveted major in the bag, will come into Wimbledon this year with more confidence than ever. But he will have a big battle on his hands trying to ignore the statistic weighing down on him that the last British player to win the men's singles title was Fred Perry way, way, way back in 1936. No pressure Mr Murray.

Federer Likely His Biggest Threat

Arguably the most dangerous of the men's singles contenders is Roger Federer, who will be gunning for title number eight and is one of those players who if he is on top of his game, will go all the way. Even the likes of Djokovic and Nadal are no match for the Swiss player when he is firing on all cylinders.

That said, many bookmakers have laid Federer as only the fourth betting favorite behind Nadal, Murray and Djokovic. But for my Wimbledon men's singles betting buck, I see a Federer Djokovic final, and ultimately a Federer victory, so bet prudently.
