Independent online gambling consumer watchdog group, eCommerce and Online Gaming Regulation and Assurance (eCOGRA), has awarded the casino software provider, Microgaming, with a renewed certified software seal.

eCOGRA's Seals Compliance Committee found that the Isle of Man based Microgaming was compliant with EGBA standards of software providers of casino and poker software.

Microgaming was also found to be compliant with eGAP requirements for casino, poker and bingo software providers.

Microgaming Meets Highest Industry Standards

The Chief Executive Officer of Microgaming, Roger Raatgever, said about the renewed Certified Software Seal: "The eCOGRA certification is synonymous with the highest possible level of professional conduct in the online gaming industry."

He said that Microgaming was proud to receive a renewed Certified Software Seal as it reflects how seriously the group takes player protection and responsible gaming.

"We work hard to ensure that our products not only meet all of the necessary requirements to be accredited but excel in each of the areas assessed," he said.

Also commenting on the Microgaming eCOGRA certificate was the Chief Executive Officer of eCOGRA, Andrew Beveridge, who said that eCOGRA certification can only be achieved following a rigorous on site inspection, which encompasses all aspects of the company's software development activities, followed by sustained monitoring and annual reviews.

"Microgaming's commitment to responsible and fair gaming is well known throughout the industry, and the Certified Software Seal is further evidence of the company's achievement of the highest levels of player protection and fair gaming," he added.

Over 100 Compliance Reviews

Last year, eCOGRA performed over 100 compliance reviews, using its own eGAP Requirements as a measure, as well as the European Gaming and Betting Association standards. It also took into account the various jurisdictional regulations which dictated other requirements.

The compliance reviews included independent assessments of all live gaming transactions to ensure that games are operated fairly and securely in an airtight environment.

The enforcement of these regulations has had a very good impact on the online gambling industry, as it provides peace of mind for both players and regulators that online gambling suppliers and operators are acting very responsibly and in line with the strictest industry requirements.

eCOGRA was founded in 2003 with the main objective to set operational standards and player safety in the world of online gambling. Since then, over 200 of the top internet gambling sites in the world have earned eCOGRA accreditation.
