Week 4 NFL Betting Preview Including our Picks
We preview some of the key Week 4 NFL games and make our picks.
In Week Four of the NFL season, we are down to three unbeaten teams. The Atlanta Falcons, the Arizona Cardinals and the Houston Texans are all that is left with unblemished records. Since they are all that is left, let's take a look at those games.
Falcons at Panthers
The Falcons are at home to face the 1-2 Panthers. Carolina has been terrible on offense in two of their three games, the other game they faced the NFL's worst defense in the New Orleans Saints. Cam Newton, who used his rushing ability to go to the Pro Bowl in his rookie season, has been held to less than 10 yards rushing in both Panther losses. He was not held under 10 yards in any game last season.
The Falcons have beaten three AFC West teams. They blew Kansas City out in the opening week, then beat a tough Denver Broncos teams in the second week. They caused four first quarter turnovers, including three interceptions from future Hall of Fame quarterback, Peyton Manning. They followed that up with a road win at previously unbeaten San Diego. Any time a team travels across the country and wins, that is the sign of a really good team.
Carolina is +7 -110 or +265 straight up on British Licensed Bookie - Bet 365. The Falcons are -7 -110 or -330 straight up. Over/under is 48.5. We like the Falcons to cover at home.
Texans at Titans
The Texans are also at home against the Tennessee Titans. The Titans just got their first win a week ago when they won an overtime thriller against the Detroit Lions. Tennessee was blown out in their first two games against the Patriots and the Chargers.
The Texans have not really been challenged in their first three games against Miami, Jacksonville and Denver. The score of the Denver game was 31-25 but was not as close as the score would lead you to believe.
Tennessee is +12 -110 while the Texans are -12 -110. Straight up the Titans are 9/2 or + 450 and the Texans are 1/6 or -600. Over/under on the game is 44.5. We like the Titans to beat the spread. 12 points in any NFL game is a lot of points. A case in point was Thursday night's Cleveland at Baltimore game. The Browns were getting 13 points yet had a chance to tie the game all the way to the end, losing by 7. The Titans are better than the Browns. We're not sure whether the Texans are better than the Ravens. Grab these odds at Sportsinteraction.
Cardinals at Dolphins
The Cardinals are also at home against the Miami Dolphins. The Dolphins are coming off a soul crushing loss at home to the New York Jets. How Miami reacts to that loss is a good guess. It's really easy to let a loss like that one beat you twice. Miami had a game winning field goal missed by Dan Carpenter in overtime, then had a blocked field goal nullified because they called timeout just before the snap. The Jets then hit the game winner on the next snap.
The Dolphins are getting +5.5 -110. The Cards are -5.5 -110. Straight up the Dolphins are 41/20 or +205. Arizona is 20/49 straight up or -245. Over/under on the game is 39. We like the over on the game. We also like the Cardinals to cover the spread. Arizona has a pretty good defense that stifled 2-0 Philadephia and Tom Brady and the Patriots. How tough is rookie Ryan Tannehill going to find the Cards defense on Sunday? Very tough.
Other Games
Three other games we like are the Giants +2 against the Eagles, (Giants are just playing better ball than Philly), The Redskins +2.5 against the Buccaneers (Robert Griffin III is more likely to make a big play than Josh Freeman) and the Bengals -1 over the Jaguars (the Jaguars are just really bad, especially at home).
