There was the "Miracle at the Meadowlands" Monday Night game when the Jets came back from the dead in the fourth quarter to beat the Dolphins. They trailed 30-7 at the end of the third quarter in the week seven of 2000 matchup, with both teams going into the game at 5-1. The Jets won the game by tying it at the end of regulation on a pass to offensive lineman Jumbo Elliott on a tackle-eligible play, then winning in overtime on a 40 yard field goal.

There was the Dan Marino "fake spike" play when he threw a game winning touchdown pass to beat the Jets. The Dolphins trailed that game 24-6 going into the fourth quarter before Marino rallied them with three touchdowns to win the game and keep first place in the AFC East in 1994.

There was also the famous shootout between Marino and Jet's quarterback Ken O'Brien in September of 1986 when the Jets out scored Miami 51-45 in a battle between two quarterbacks both picked in the famous 1983 draft. The Jets passed on Marino to take O'Brien. The two combined for 884 yards passing in the game.

In the AFC Championship Game the season before that draft, the Dolphins beat the Jets in a 14-0 game in which the Dolphins were accused of some chicanery by not covering the field during some nasty weather before the game. The muddy field helped slow down the Jets potent ground attack.

A loss to the Dolphins also sealed the fate of Brett Favre in his lone season wearing the green.

When the Dolphins and Jets get together, you just never know what you might see. The two teams will meet on Sunday (September 23, 2012) in a battle of 1-1 teams in Miami.

The Jets have a win over Buffalo in week one in which they put 48 points on the board. In week two they struggled against Pittsburgh, putting up only 10 points in a 27-10 loss.

The Dolphins went to Houston in week one and were blown out 30-10. But in week two they turned the tables by running up a 35-13 score on Oakland.

With New England at 1-1 and facing a tough Baltimore team on Sunday, the Jets-Dolphins winner may find themselves leading the division going into week four.

The Jets are a slight favorite going into this game at about 3 points. With these two teams anything can, and often time does happen. But with the Jets having an experienced Mark Sanchez at quarterback and Miami having a rookie in Ryan Tannehill, we believe this gives the Jets a slight advantage.
