Kwachu 648 Lottery Launched by Canadian Gambling Group Amaya in Kenya
Amaya Gaming Group, the Toronto-based Canadian gambling firm, announced that it was instrumental in the launch of the Kwachu 6/48 Lottery in the Republic of Kenya last week, following a successful 15 week SMS trial to 'test the waters.'
This lottery launch marks Amaya's further expansion into a regulated gaming industry in Africa, and is considered a major coup for the group.
Amaya, which provides gaming entertainment solutions for the global gaming industry, oversaw the first Kwachu 6/48 Lottery draw in Kenya on Saturday, September 24th.
The President and Chief Executive of Amaya Gaming, David Baazov said: "We are very pleased to be able to expand our presence in Kenya with the launch of another public lottery."
"Our initial experience with an SMS lottery demonstrated that the people of Kenya are very receptive to this kind of offering," he said.
Earlier this year, Amaya Gaming ran a 15 week SMS lottery campaign which proved highly successful, and the group is now hoping to build on this success thanks to the launch of the Kwachu 6/48 Lottery.
Users participated in a SMS lottery by sending a text message containing certain keywords to a specified number. The draws and results were then televised, broadcast on radio, and published in newspapers. In addition, the lucky winners were notified via SMS.
Amaya, with its parent company listed in Canada, incorporates key technological features into its cutting edge INSYNC platform. The group, which specializes in peer to peer gaming, is considered to be a pioneer in the electronic gaming industry. It offers customized solutions to gaming establishments, as well as gaming services to the general public
