A group of 34 workers who are employed in a nursing home facility in Scarborough, Toronto, turned up at the lottery offices this week to claim their win, after their ticket hit the numbers of the July 22nd Lotto Max draw. There was much jubilation and joy as they celebrated their win.

The group, ranging in age from 30 to 65, will share the $15 million bounty and for everyone, without exception, this will be a life changing win.

Since the beginning of January, two group leaders, Henrietta McMahon and Naomi Konadu, have taken it upon themselves to collect the money and purchase lottery tickets for their co-workers.

Konadu recalled the moment she learned of the win. "When I went to the store on my break to check the tickets for that week, it said we won $6,000, which we would have all celebrated," she said. "That was big enough. But then I heard we won $15 million and I couldn't believe my ears.  I started jumping up and down and screaming in the store."

She said that she immediately called Henrietta, "but she didn't believe me, she thought I was joking!"

McMahon said that she told the other group members right away. "I was at home and drove into work," she said. "Everyone was screaming and excited. One woman jumped on me and hugged me around the neck because she was happy!"

Each Winner Gets Just Under Half a Million

The nursing home workers, who don't earn large salaries in their jobs, will undoubtedly find a lot to do with just under half a million dollars each.

"This has removed the stress from so many people's lives," said McMahon. "We work so hard and this money is really coming at a good time for everyone."
