Canadian lottery players who purchased a Lotto Max ticket in the Dartmouth area last year may want to go back and check their old tickets... because they may be sitting on a gold mine.

Atlantic Lottery officials reminded Canadians that a $1 million ticket lies unclaimed and the date of its expiry is fast approaching.  Lottery players have until August 6th to claim the money - and after that, it's too late.

"The Lotto Max jackpot was $50 million and there was an additional 32 $1 million prizes that were drawn," said Sarah McBeath, a spokeswoman for Atlantic Lottery.

"The prizes are called Maxmillions and so these Maxmillion prizes are individually drawn.  That means there were 32 draws with $1 million each.

The winning numbers on the unclaimed ticket are as follows: 6, 23, 36, 30, 34, 36 and 41.

Atlantic Lottery also said that another ticket has gone unclaimed from a November 22nd, 2010 draw, although the winner still has a bit of extra time to claim that win.

Customers Told to Check Old Tickets

A worker at a pharmacy in Dartmouth told CBC News that she has been urging all her customers to go home and check out their old tickets, in case they missed out on one.

"I said, 'You know what?' Go home, check your tickets, all of your old tickets. Bring them in, validate them, you could have a winning $1 million ticket.'", said Christina Murphy.

Murphy said that she hoped that her store, Mackay's Pharmasave, was the one where the $1 million ticket was sold, but she wasn't convinced.

She did pray, however, that she was the lucky winner. "I've checked everything, everywhere," she said. "In my house, tore it apart, upside down, just in case."

"No luck. No luck at all," she said.
