Great Grandmother Claims Huge Lotto 649 Prize
A woman from Kingston, who was the single winner on Wednesday's Lotto 6/49 draw, took her time checking to see how much she had won, even finishing off her breakfast before turning to the business of claiming her lottery prize.
78 year old Margaret Mileman, a great-grandmother who has lived in Kingston for over forty years after emigrating from Britain with her husband, found out she had won the lottery after checking her numbers.
She had picked the numbers 2, 4, 22, 25, 28 and 31 on Lotto 6/49's Wednesday draw and figured out that she had won while having her breakfast.
However, instead of rushing up to the computer to see how much she had won, Mileman continued with her meal!
"I knew right away that I had won, but I still kept looking at it over and over again and with my breakfast," she recalled.
"I didn't know how much the jackpot was until I finished breakfast and went upstairs to the computer to check."
Big Plans for the £6.2 million Prize
Mileman soon found out that she was the lucky winner of the Ontario Lottery and Gaming's £6.2 million prize and she has plenty of plans to spend the money.
"My husband always said that we were going to win when we were old," she said, "and he was right."
"I just keep thinking that it can't be true," she continued. "I don't even really know what I'm going to do with the money." She said she is considering buying a new car, even though she likes the one she is currently driving.
She is also keen to get together with her family members from abroad. "I have two sisters who live overseas and I'm really looking forward to bringing them over to visit me," she said.
