Edmonton Hits the Lottery Yet Again
The Edmonton area has been known to produce quite a number of lottery winners in the past, and this week, the lucky reputation of this area was confirmed yet again, after the Western Canada Lottery Corporation (WCLC) announced that another winner from Edmonton struck gold.
On Monday, the corporation announced that a resident of city, Farhat Farhat had guessed the six correct numbers on the Lotto 649 ticket and therefore was taking home a staggering $3,206,204.90.
The ticket was purchased at Lucky Lucky Foods in northeastern Edmonton and entered into the June 1st draw.
Farhat is now embarking on an entire new lifestyle change, thanks to his status as millionaire three time over. He said that his first purchase would be a life-long dream of his - to own a brand new Cadillac. He also wants to help his children by contributing to their travel plans.
Non Stop Lottery Luck in Edmonton
Edmonton has built quite a reputation for itself for producing big wins through the province's lottery.
In 2005, the biggest lottery prize in Canada's history, a staggering $54.3 million, was won by a group of 17 oilpatch workers from the Camrose area, after they guessed the correct numbers on their Lotto 649 ticket.
A few years later, in 2009, thirteen workers from ATB Financial, based in Edmonton, won a similar sized prize - just under $50 million in a Lotto 6/59 draw.
In April 2010, a man from Beaumont took home $41.7 in a Lotto Max lottery draw. His was the largest sum won by an individual in Canadian history.
Short of actually moving to Edmonton or central Alberta, there is nothing that we can do except turn green with envy or continue to buy more lottery tickets in the hope of joining this list in the future. Congratulations to the latest winner, Farhat Farhat!
