Horse racing fans that trekked to Woodbine Racecourse in Toronto, Canada on Sunday to watch the featured the $1 million Woodbine Mile Stakes (Gr 1) were not disappointed, as Court Vision romped home first.

The prestigious race for three-year-olds and up attracted a 13-horse field, including race favourite and California-bred 4-year-old gelding The Usual Q.T. But it was second favourite and Kentucky-bred 5-year-old horse Court Vision who dazzled with top-rated jockey Robby Albarado aboard.

Starting from post 4, the American rode Court Vision to perfection when he allowed the thoroughbred to slide down the field in a comfortable 12th place. It was only exiting the turn that Albarado asked the horse for more.

Meanwhile, up to that point, 30/1 shot Zifzaf had been leading the field, setting some impressive fractions as he went like 23.55, 46.53 and 1:10.36, but he had the likes of Grand Adventure and Woodbourne snapping at his heels.

But coming out of the turn, Court Vision was making his way speedily up the field as he came down the stretch. And by the eighth pole it was between The Usual Q.T. and Court Vision, the former looking to have the race sewn up.

However, never one to give up, Albarado managed to squeeze just a little more from a flat out Court Vision, which was enough to pass The Usual Q.T. with little more than a sixteenth to go. The duo finished 1 1/4 lengths ahead of The Usual Q.T. with Victor Espinoz aboard. Third place went to Woodbourne with Chantal Sutherland aboard.

Said a thrilled Albarado after the race, 'He ran an awful nice race. I just wanted him to settle in early. I know he'd been off a while, but he'd been training forwardly at Saratoga this summer. I figured I'd stay out of his way, give him a good trip, and then he'd come home running, and he did.'

Owned by IEAH Stables and Resolute Group Stable, Court Vision earned his connections $600,000 for his stunning run and paid $16.60 to punters who backed him. His total career earnings are now $2,549,760.
