NFL betting is heating up as we head into Week 3 of the regular season. It comes as a surprise to some that the Dallas Cowboys are winless while the Houston Texans are undefeated after two starts. Not many gamblers would have bet on that tale of the tape. And that is probably why the opening Cowboys Texans spread gives plenty of respect to the home team as Houston is -3 in the current NFL line.

Before the regular season got underway the anticipated spread for this game would have been +3 points on the home team, but our latest NFL Power Rankings rate the Houston Texans as a Top 5 team in the early going. They dismantled the high profile Colts, who franked the form by beating the Giants, and then they beat the Redskins on the road. It looks to us as though the AFC is the stronger conference in terms of depth, and the Cowboys might well go 0-3 here.

Dallas is 0-2 thanks to a last second loss at the Redskins, and a woeful home opener against the Bears. It remains to be seen how good Chicago really are but on a straight line of form through Washington the Cowboys are not as good as the Texans, especially not with Houston at home.
