Ontarians can enjoy a brand new game, thanks to the Ontario Lottery and Gambling Corp.

Poker Lotto is a new $2 instant win and nightly draw lottery ticket that allows players a two-pronged chance of winning through the game.

The game was introduced as a means to appeal to a new kind of gambler in Canada, especially those who are keen on poker.

The Poker Lotto ticket has card symbols instead of traditional numbers, and allows players to win a sum of up to $5,000 instantly.

Another way to win is to check the nightly lottery draw, where sums of up to $100,000 are up for grabs.

The Senior Vice President of the OLG, Greg McKenzie, said: "This is a very exciting time for us to be able to provide new exciting games for our players."

"It keeps the game fresh," he said. "Our market continues to grow and we anticipate Poker Lotto to generate $60 million annually."

The government, as to be expected, came under fire from opposition groups who are calling for a moratorium on the product.

Among other things, opposition is also calling for lottery vendors to post warnings regarding the 'danger' of gambling.

"Why aren't there huge signs at every lottery terminal telling people that they probably just blew $2 and that the chances of them winning the big payoff are one in two million," said a NDP MPP.

The new product was launched on September 7th, with 200,000 tickets sold already.

The money will be help the Liberal government free itself from its huge $20 billion deficit.
