The Starlight Children's Foundation Canada will be benefitting from a huge boost to its coffers, thanks to the efforts of online poker room Ultimate Bet.

The poker room announced that it will be hosting the Starlight Poker Challenge in Montreal next month.

Players will be able to battle it out across the green felt to get their hands on a first place prize of $100,000.

According to reports, this is the highest amount of money ever offered by a charity poker event in the country.

The Starlight Poker Challenge will take place between November 14 - 18, 2009 and will attract a number of top celebrities.

Two of the industry's most famous players, Annie Duke and Phil Hellmuth, are linked to Ultimate Bet and are the driving force behind this charity event.

Hellmuth and Duke will be offering a special poker seminar for all VIP ticket holders on November 14th at the Gare Windsor in Montreal.

The top 50 players in the even will be paid out from the $100K prize pool.

The event will follow traditional World Series of Poker structure with sixty minute blinds, with up to 20,000 starting chips stacks.

In addition, the top ten players in the tournament will find themselves on the way to Vegas!

The event will receive international television coverage by channels such as Rogers Sportsnet, Players Network and Comcast.

Starlight, a non profit, international group, assists seriously ill children and their families.
