Some of Canada's residents will be able to enjoy a pastime enjoyed by millions of punters from around the globe - placing novelty bets on the latest reality shows on TV.

The Atlantic Lottery Corporation is now offering residents of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador and Prince Edward Island the chance to place bets on the hit US song contest, The Voice.

The show, currently in its fifth season, is one of the most popular TV programs in the world.

Pro-Line Stadium The Voice Betting

The Atlantic Lottery Corporation has rolled out The Voice markets on its Pro-Line Stadium online betting site, and has promised to add new categories as the season progresses.

Players will be allowed to wager on the winner of the competition, as well as the winning judge.

At present, odds are available on whether The Voice's winner will be a male or a female singer.

This season's judges are Cee-Lo Green, Christina Aguilera, Blake Shelton and Adam Levine.

The senior brand manager for ALC's sports lotteries, James Reilly said: "We like to offer our PRO∙LINE players a little novelty. It's meant to be a fun, non-sports option on our Pro-Line Futures game. It gives fans of the show more than just water-cooler bragging rights if they make the right picks - it gives them a chance to pick their favorites and have it pay off."

Canada Novelty Betting

This is not the first time that the Atlantic Lottery Corporation has offered novelty bets. Earlier this year, the group added bets on the Academy Awards to its list of markets.

"While sports are the usual offering on Pro-Line Futures, we will add non-sports bets from time to time - like the movie awards or the US voice reality competition - to keep things interesting for our players," said Reilly.

About Atlantic Lottery Corporation

The Atlantic Lottery Corporation was created in 1976 as a means to provide lottery games on behalf of the governments of the provinces Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador and Prince Edward Island, and to raise revenue for social and community causes.

The number of games has grown since then, and today players can enjoy draw games, online bingo, sports wagering and now novelty betting.

The corporation records 90,000 wins each and every day, with 100% of the profits going back to the community.
