The 16 basketball teams good enough to make it to the 2012-13 NBA Playoffs kicked off their post season campaigns on the weekend.

Overall betting favorites the Miami Heat won Game 1 of their respective best-of-seven-series against the Milwaukee Bucks by a crushing 110-87, with Game 2 scheduled for Tuesday night, once again in Florida.

2012-13 NBA Playoffs Game 1 Results

In terms of the other playoff game 1 results, Brooklyn beat Chicago, Indiana beat Atlanta, New York beat Boston, Oklahoma City beat Houston, LA Clippers beat Memphis, Denver beat Golden State and San Antonio beat the LA Lakers (no doubt because Kobe Bryant has been sidelined due to injury).

But because the Miami Heat are the team most touted to go all the way and secure themselves their second consecutive NBA Championship, there is no doubt their games will be the most watched and perhaps even wagered on during the NBA post-season.

In 2011, the Heat were dispatched 4-2 in the NBA finals by the Dallas Mavericks. However, in 2012 the team from Florida refused to settle for second place for a second year running, beating the Oklahoma City Thunder 4-1 to take the Championship. And judging by their excellent form this season, they seem to be on track to successfully defend their title.

Miami Displayed Unrivaled Offense

If their was any doubt about Miami's prowess coming into the 2012-13 NBA Playoffs, it was dispelled within the first few minutes of last night's game, where the Heat's widespread and well-oiled offense broke through the Bucks' defense time after time, with the assistance of a huge number of assists compared to their rivals.

Chris Bosh earned massive cheers from the home crowd with his superb pair of corner 3-pointers. Even if top-rated Miami guard missed 7 out of 12 shots, the final score did not reflect this. In fact, if there was a flaw to Miami's performance last night, this writer failed to find it.

The way Miami Heat have played all season and come into the playoffs, does not bode well even for their strongest rivals, the Oklahoma City Thunder. Like the Heat, the Thunder cruised into the playoffs, and also like the heat, squished their first playoff opponents, the Houston Rockets, by 120-91 in their Game 1.

Heat and Thunder in NBA Final?

Hopefully, these will the two teams that square off in the final, not only because they have both worked so hard to reach the big game, but because they are simply streets ahead of most of their rivals in talent, style, consistency and drive to win.
