Dallas Cowboys at Philadelphia Eagles NFL Preview and Odds
The Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles will play this Sunday. It's a battle of two teams with a lot in common. Both are 3-3 in the NFC East standings. Both have spent a lot of money on getting some talented players. Both have underachieved. Both have quarterbacks plagued with the turnover bug. Both of their coaches are on the hot seat.
History
This game may an elimination game from the playoffs. The loser will be 3-6, tied with Washington for third and if the New York Giants beat the Cincinnati Bengals, they'll be three games behind with six games to play. The two teams will meet again in three weeks, so the loser will have a chance at revenge.
The Eagles started the season off 3-1 and now have lost four in a row. They've lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers, Detroit Lions, Atlanta Falcons and New Orleans Saints in that stretch. The Steelers and Lions games were very close. The Eagles could easily have been 5-1. But the last two have not been so close. So it looks as if the Eagles might be in a downward spiral they can't get out of.
The Cowboys have been hanging in there. They were 3-3 a couple of weeks ago. They have lost two in a row to two of the toughest teams in the NFC, the Giants and Falcons, each by less than a touchdown. They literally lost to the Giants by a fingertip. But the bottom line is they've lost four of their last five and their lone win was against a 2-6 Carolina Panthers.
These two teams play twice each year in the regular season. They've also met four times in the postseason. The Cowboys lead the all time series 56-46 including a 3-1 record in the postseason. The Eagles have won the last two meetings. The rivalry has never seemed to get bitter like the Redskins-Cowboys or Eagles-Giants or even Redskins-Giants, but it is still hotly contested.
Our Pick
Bodog has the Cowboys -1.5. Pinnacle has the Cowboys -1 1.885 and the Eagles +1 2.040. Straight up they have the Cowboys at 1.840 and the Eagles 2.040. Over/under is 44.5.
This game really is a tossup, especially with it being in Philly. Neither team has been very good, but neither has been awful either. But we are going to go with Dallas straight up to win. And we like the under.
