The New Orleans Saints have now won two straight games after their dreadful 0-4 start to the season. Last week the Saints ran off 28 straight points on the road against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to turn a 21-7 deficit into a 35-21 lead. They held on to win the game 35-28.

History

The week before, the San Diego Chargers came to the Superdome in first place in the AFC West. The Saints beat them 28-17 to get off the winless list. Drew Brees has been his usual fantastic self in the two wins, not that he was bad even in the four losses.

The Denver Broncos are tied for first place in the AFC West at 3-3. The Broncos record may be a bit deceptive as few teams have played a tougher schedule than they have. In fact, we can't think of any. The Broncos have beaten the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Oakland Raiders and the San Diego Chargers. The Broncos were down to the Chargers 24-0 in San Diego at the half before staging one of the best comebacks of this or any season, winning 35-24.

Peyton Manning has been very good coming off his missed season a year ago and acclimating himself to his new team. The offense appears to be getting better every week. The Broncos schedule lightens up a bit now as they face the Cincinnati Bengals, Carolina Panthers, Chargers, Kansas City Chiefs, and Buccaneers after the Saints game.

Drew Brees vs Peyton Manning brings back memories of the Super Bowl in Miami three years ago when the Saints beat the Manning-led Indianapolis Colts in an upset. One of the memorable plays in that game was an interception returned for a touchdown by the Saints Tracey Porter. Manning won't need to worry about that happening in this game. Porter is now on his side as a Bronco.

Our Pick

Pinnacle has this game as Denver -6 -104 or -250. The Saints are +222 or +6 -104. We like the Broncos -6 at home. The Over/under o the game is 55.5. We like the over on this one as we expect a shootout between Manning and Brees. Usually when two Hall of fame quarterbacks get together, points will be plentiful. This game should be no exception.
