New York Giants at Dallas Cowboys NFL Preview and Odds
The New York Giants will visit the Dallas Cowboys this weekend in an important NFC East game. The Giants lead the NFC East at 5-2 while the Cowboys are in a tie for second place with the Philadelphia Eagles at 3-3. A Cowboys win would pull them even with the Giants in the loss column and also give them tie-breaker over the Giants by virtue of their season sweep in the head to head games. A Giants win puts them two games up on the loss side and gives them a season split.
History
The Cowboys beat the Giants in the season opening game in New York on the night the Giants got their Super Bowl rings in a pre-game ceremony. Since that game, Eli Manning and the Giants have won five of six games, including wins on the road against the San Francisco 49ers and Carolina Panthers.
The Cowboys have been up and down, going 2-3 since their visit to New Jersey. They beat the Tampa Bay Bucs at home and the Panthers on the road last week. They also had a close loss on the road at the Baltimore Ravens, But were shellacked by the Seattle Seahawks and Chicago Bears.
Dallas leads the all time series with the Giants 57-42-2. The Cowboys first head coach, Tom Landry, who led the Cowboys to two Super Bowl wins in five appearances, was hired from the Giants where he served as the defensive coordinator. He was 35-17-2 against New York.
Since 2000, the Giants are 16-10 against the Cowboys. In 2007, the Giants beat the top seeded Cowboys in the divisional round of the NFC playoffs on their way to a Super Bowl championship. Last season, in the final week of the regular season, the Cowboys met the Giants with the divisional championship at stake. The Giants won the game and went on to win the Super Bowl while the Cowboys went home with no playoff spot.
Our Pick
Bodog has the Giants -2 -115 while the Cowboys are +2 -105. Over/under on the game is 47.5. The Giants will be looking to get some revenge for week one. Going on the road does not bother these Giants either as they have won several playoff games on the road in recent years. This line is too small. We like the Giants -2 and we also like the Over.
