After sixteen years of the same website design, the British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC) has launched a brand new site.

BC's official lottery decided that it was time for big changes to be made to its website and, according to the corporation, "retired the old design and launched the new and improved bclc.com."

Since BCLC launched its website sixteen years ago, the business has undergone many changes. For one, the corporation now incorporates casinos and community gathering centers, and recently added its first online casino site, PlayNow.com.

"We want to keep pace with that growth and make sure our website is accurate, up-to-date and most of all, easy to use!" says the lottery corporation.

BCLC Site Easy to Navigate

While the former BCLC site was relatively easy to navigate, the new and improved version has been designed especially with the player in mind, combining years of experience with the last word in technology.

As such, the new BCLC website boasts improved navigation, as well as easy access to product and corporate information.

The site now has an extensive and updated FAQ section which Canadian lottery players should find particularly handy, as well as social media accessibility.

Perhaps the biggest change, however, has been updating the site to make it fully compatible with smart phones, tablets and other handheld devices. This makes it easier for players to check their winning numbers, access responsible gambling tools and read about the latest lottery news and jackpot alerts - all through their mobile devices.

BCLC players are invited to fill in a survey on the site to let the corporation know how they like the changes.

BCLC Continues to Benefit Province

Recently, the BCLC released its 2011/2012 annual report, and showed that, for the sixth consecutive year, it has delivered over $1 billion in net income to the province, helping to fund important programs and services.

In the report's time frame, BC lottery winners were paid out $581 million.

The group's PlayNow.com casino site saw a 53% growth and generated $66 million in revenue.

In its annual report, the BCLC said that it had "benefitted from a strengthening economy, a focus on cost management and innovation, which all lead to the measured growth in BCLC's net income."

The report also showed that BC adults rank casinos as their fifth most popular form of entertainment, behind restaurants (at number one), movies, bars and live theater. Over 80% of adults played a BCLC game at least once a year.
