Team Canada Still in Olympics Bronze Age

For the time being, Team Canada remains in the bronze age of the London Games 2012. On Day 4 of the competition - Tuesday - Canada added three bronze medals in quick succession to its single medal won in the first few days of the competition, bringing the total tally to four.

Team Canada shone in weightlifting, judo and synchronized diving, with Christine Girard, Antointe Valois-Fortier and duo Meaghan Benfeito and Roseline Filion coming in third in their respective sports.

At present, Canada remains way below on the total medal count table in the 32nd spot, compared to the 23 won by China and the United States and 11 won by France.

Canada Women's Soccer Moves Further into Competition

Good news from London is that the Canadian Women's Soccer Team managed to move on to the knockout round of the competition, after Melissa Tancredi tallied two goals to help the Canucks draw with Sweden 2-2.

Canada therefore became one of the eight advancing teams, with four points in three matches under its belt, and finishing third in Group F.

This means that the team will meet home favorites, Team Great Britain on Friday in Coventry in the quarter final stages of the competition

Olympic Weekend Action

Looking ahead to the weekend, undoubtedly the most talked about event is the Athletics which begins tomorrow on Friday 3rd, and features one of the most watched and bet on Olympic races - the Men's 100 m.

Odds on the Jamaican Usain Bolt to win the competition are 8/11, ahead of his fellow-countryman Yohan Blake at 6/4 and the US's Tyson Gray at 14/1.

The Women's 100 m will also take place this weekend, with Jamaica's Shelly Ann Fraser to win at odds of 6/4. She faces tough competition from Carmelita Jeter from the USA (5/2) and fellow Jamaican Veronica Campbell Brown at 5/1.

Team Canada Olympics doesn't quite shine in the athletics department but it will be interesting nonetheless to watch some of the world's best athletes compete on the track and wager on their chances to take home gold, silver and bronze.
