Tonight's Lotto Max lottery draw will see a record prize pool in the lottery's history up for grabs.

Canadian lottery fans have until 6 pm tonight (Friday) to get their hands on tickets, which have the potential to pay them out a $50 million jackpot, as well as 50 additional chances to win $1 million through MaxMillions draws.

Lottery retailers have reported that sales are through the roof as Canadians rush to try and get their hands on tickets in anticipation of the record Canadian Lotto Max prize draw this evening.

"Everybody wants Lotto Max," said one kiosk owner in Canada. "We're getting an extra 500 or 600 dollars in sales every day."

Tickets bought for the momentous evening are eligible for all of the 51 draws set to take place. Each draw has its own winning numbers.

Largest Lottery in Lotto Max History

Tonight's draw is the largest in Lotto Max history, coming in a little above the $99 million prize pool recorded in June 2010.

"The goal with Lotto Max has always been to create more millionaires," said the vice president for lottery gaming at the British Columbia Lottery Corporation, Keven Gass.

"It's extremely rare for players to have such a larger amount of prize money available on a single draw.

"Each ticket sold for Friday's draw is automatically entered in the draw for the main jackpot and in all 50 of the MaxMillions draws," said Gass about the Lotto Max prize draw. "It's great to feel the excitement building across BC and Canada."

"This is a truly special, unique opportunity for our lottery players who dream of becoming millionaires," he said. "I can't think of a better way to get the summer adventures started than becoming BC's newest millionaire."

Never before has a $50 million jackpot gone unwon for so long, week after week, and tonight's draw is a new benchmark for the lottery with $100 million up for grabs in jackpots.

Odds of Winning Lotto Max Jackpot

The odds of winning the $50 million jackpot prize as well as any of the 50 individual MaxMillions jackpots are the same - 26,33,528 to 1.

These statistics, however, haven't deterred Canadian lottery fans in the least who are rushing to buy tickets ahead of tonight's big draw. The tickets can be purchased at lottery retailers and kiosks across Canada, who are reporting high traffic, as well as online.
