NFL Week 9 Free Picks and Betting Preview

Seattle Seahawks at Dallas Cowboys

Fans of the Cowboys have every right to shake their heads at their team's questionable performances of late. However, the good news is that they'll be facing weaker opponents in the coming weeks - including the struggling Seahawks on Sunday - so they should be rack up some wins, and get themselves back in line to reach the playoffs.

Free Pick: Cowboys 29, Seahawks 16

San Francisco 49ers at Washington Redskins

Washington lost their third consecutive game last week, which is not unusually for them, and unsurprising, when you consider their defense is only marginally better than their sucky offense. It's a wonder their quarterback John Beck is still standing after being sacked nine times last time out against the Bills. All you need to know about the 49ers is that they're a whole lot better than the Redskins.

Free Pick: 49ers 33, Redskins 18

Atlanta Falcons at Indianapolis Colts

To say the Colts are having a nightmare season is the understatement of the year, considering they are 0-8. It makes no difference whether they're on the road or at home - they suck anywhere. And while the Falcons are having an average season (4-3), they should still be able to take the Colts down on Sunday without breaking too much of a sweat.

Free Pick: Falcons 19, Colts 11

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at New Orleans Saints

Saints fans could only look on in shock as their team allowed a whopping six sacks last week en route to a surprise defeat  by the St Louis Rams. They'll have to bolster their offense on Sunday if they have any hope against the Buccaneers, who are chomping on their heels in the NFC South division, and are hungry to lead the division.

Free Pick: Buccaneers 36, Saints 30

Miami Dolphins at Kansas City Chiefs

Last week Dolphins' running back Reggie Bush rushed for 100 yards for the first time since 2007, and the fans went wild. Hopefully he'll deliver more of the same against the Chiefs on Sunday in Kansas City, but the home team have been looking strong of late, and will more than likely dispatch the visitors.

Free Pick: Chiefs 28, Dolphins 22

New York Jets at Buffalo Bills

There's a reason that Bills' quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick had his contract renewed last week for $59 million - he's just that good. In fact, the Bills in general are playing like a well-oiled machine, and while it's unlikely they'll thrash the inconsistent Jets on Sunday, they should at least rack up a victory.

Free Pick: Bills 32, Jets 25

Cleveland Browns at Houston Texans

To the surprise of many seasoned NFL fans, the Texans are leading the AFC South on 5-3 and if they keep playing they way they have, they should certainly make the playoffs. Consider how the Texans' defense held their rivals to under 200 yards per game in back-to-back games. The Browns, meanwhile, are on 3-4. Say no more.

Free Pick: Texans 30, Browns 15

Cincinnati Bengals at Tennessee Titans

Both these teams are having OK seasons, but of the two, the Bengals appear to be the stronger team, and will no doubt prove me right on Sunday. Sure, the Titans may have beaten the lackluster Colts last week, but a slew of bad penalties played as much a part in their victory as their supposed skill. Expect them to get clawed on Sunday.

Free Pick: Bengals 23, Titans 19

Denver Broncos at Oakland Raiders

The Broncos must be feeling really left out at the moment, because they're sitting on a smelly 2-5 record, while each of their AFC West rivals are on 4-3, including the Raiders. Plus it won't help them any that they're on the road on Sunday, so expect them to crash and burn before they return to the Rockies.

Free Pick: Raiders 25, Broncos 16

St. Louis Rams at Arizona Cardinals

This is a tough one to call - NOT. The Cardinals have lost their last six games, despite the fact they've got quarterback Kevin Kolb at the helm, a player who has a six-year contract worth a whopping $65 million. When his huge payday will actually translate into winning scorelines remains to be seen. Next to the Cardinals, the Rams look like giants.

Free Pick: Rams 29, Cardinals 17

Green Bay Packers at San Diego Chargers

Last year's Super Bowl champs are having another super season with a 7-0 record they'll be hoping to turn into 8-0 on Sunday. Their quarterback Aaron Rodgers is having a stonking season, with 20 TDs to his name, with 2,372 throwing yards, and just three interceptions. The Chargers are having an average season and should be no real threat for Green Bay.

Free Pick: Packers 33, Chargers 19

New York Giants at New England Patriots

Although the Giants have dug deep and played hard to secure the top spot in the NFC East (5-2), they are well aware that their schedule is about to get a lot tougher, starting with the Patriots on Sunday. Although the Patriots are also on 5-2, they are the slicker and tougher of the two teams, especially playing at home.

Free Pick: Patriots 32, Giants 19

Baltimore Ravens at Pittsburgh Steelers

At last, the biggest game of Week 9! The Steelers are halfway through the season with a 6-2 record for the fifth year running, and do not seem to be in any hurry to slow down. The Ravens, however, seem to be slowing down each week, and are a far cry from the team that beat the Steelers in the season opener.

Free Pick: Steelers 26, Ravens 19

Chicago Bears at Philadelphia Eagles

Quarterback Michael Vick may be the player most associated with the Eagles, but running back LeSean McCoy is more than carrying his weight this season. Consider that he is second in the NFL with 754 yards on 135 carries. So between him and Vick, expect a comfortable win over the Bears on Sunday.

Free Pick: Eagles 33, Bears 21
