Expect an NHL ice-melting performance from the San Jose Sharks when they take on the New York Rangers tonight (Monday, October 31) in New York City, where the Sharks will start as the +125 favorites at online sportsbook, Bodog.

It's not surprising the Pacific Division's San Jose Sharks are the betting favorites in tonight's big matchup considering they've won their last five straight games, and have number six firmly in their sights. Although the Sharks are only third in their division on 6-3-0, they seem capable of catching divisional leaders the Dallas Stars the way they've been chewing up the ice of late.

In fact, when the Sharks left on their 13-day road trip on October 19, they were 1-3. But then they won their first game, and their second, and their third, and so on. Currently they have tied an NHL franchise record with five straight wins on the road, and if they manage to take a bite out of the Big Apple tonight, they'll make NHL history with six consecutive road wins.

Sharks in Contention to Rank this year in NHL

Of course, breaking records is all well and good, but San Jose head coach Todd McLellan is only concerned about winning tonight's game to put the Sharks even further in contention to rate in this year's NHL season. As such, he and his team - including key defenseman Brent Burns - will take nothing for granted tonight, as the Rangers could well end their streak.

'It's a tough building to play in,' said Burns ahead of tonight's game at the imposing Madison Square Garden. 'They just started at home, so they've got that excitement. Obviously you've got a lot of skill with [Brad] Richards, [Ryan] Callahan, [Brandon] Dubinsky, and a lot of other guys.'

So while the San Jose Sharks will be ready to bring their A-game along tonight while respecting their hosts, the NHL betting question is will the home team prevail? That obviously remains to be seen, but one thing is for sure and that is the Rangers will be eager for some payback tonight, after throwing away a so-called 'locked up' victory last time out.

In their most recent game against the Ottawa Senators on Saturday, the Rangers had a 4-1 third-period lead, before choking and ultimately losing 5-4 to the Senators in a shootout. There is little doubt that they'll let their frustrations from that game out on to the ice against the Sharks tonight.

Bet on the following Sharks vs Rangers odds at Bodog:

Home (New York Rangers) +175
Draw +275
Away (San Jose Sharks) +125
