The weekend has come and gone, and despite a lot of crossed fingers and mumbled prayers, it seems that there is no winner on the Lotto 6/49 jackpot that had $20 million up for grabs.

But always looking on the bright side, the Canadian public is now keeping all eyes on Wednesday's draw which boasts a bigger prize pool than Saturday because the jackpot prize rolled over.

This week could see a lucky lottery player walk away with a staggering $25 million as the prize pool shot up.

As a result, ticket sales have shot up across Canada, with players hoping that they'll be making headlines and taking home life-changing sums of cash for winning the lottery.

The Lotto 6/49, unlike US lotteries, is totally tax-free which means that the prize that is advertised is the prize that's won!

Saturday's Winning Numbers

Saturday's draw naturally didn't see everyone walking away empty handed. The highest prize was a cool $1 million, which was won by a lucky ticket holder who played the encore draw.

Two players scooped the second division prize by matching five main balls and the bonus, each one taking home $183,264.  And while that may not be $20 million, it's certainly not a sum that the vast majority of us would turn our noses up at!

Lotto 6/49 is one of the preferred lotto games among Canada's public, and allows players to stand in line to win millions on a single $2 wager.

Players play up to six Lotto 6/49 selections on one ticket, and receive an extra chance to win $250,000 or a $100,000 second prize.

Draws are held twice a week - on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

The winning numbers on the July 2nd draw were as follows:

2, 16, 30, 41, 44, 48 and 21
