Riding on the back of the growth in poker's popularity in Canada, HeadsUp Entertainment announced that it would be creating a brand new poker division.

This means that the group's poker products, namely the Canadian Poker Tour, Canadian Poker Player Magazine and Canadian Poker Player TV Network, will all be consolidated in this new poker division.

According to the President and Chief Executive Officer of HeadsUp Entertainment, Kelly B. Kellner, as a result of recent expansion, new market opportunities and potential interest from acquirers, the group has decided that it is in its best interest and that of its shareholders to consolidate all poker operations into one unit.

"We have begun to actively recruit a president for that division who not only understands the industry but shares the passion we all embrace at HeadsUp," said Kellner. "We anticipate announcing the successful candidate for this position in the next two weeks."

Kellner said that the group is also looking to hire a new national tournament director, support staff and regional directors for British Columbia, Quebec and Ontario.

3.5 Million Poker Players in Canada

The changes brought about by HeadsUp Entertainment will serve the growing market of poker players in Canada, and Kellner estimates that there are around 3.5 million poker players across the country.

Canada is also the second largest online poker revenue generating country in the world, according to HeadsUp Entertainment.

"Because of recent events, specifically the indictment of several major online poker sites, our business is growing exponentially with our live poker tournament attendance up 35 percent across the board," said Kellner.

HeadsUp Entertainment's international marketing team will be present at the 2011 World Series of Poker which is currently underway in Las Vegas.
