NY Jets Beat New England Patriots 28-21 in NFL Showdown
According to the Jets Patriots spread going into Sunday's anticipated divisional matchup between the New York Jets and the New England Patriots, the Patriots were the better team. However, it was the Jets who turned out to be the superior team, beating their fierce rivals 28-21.
Sunday's victory, which left a sour taste in the mouths of New England supporters considering the Patriots boasted the best record on the league, will see New York head into their second consecutive AFC championship game.
While many NFL betting fans fully expected the Jets to crumple under the pressure of playing a team as tough as the Patriots, the opposite happened, and the Jets came out firing on all cylinders, leading the Patriots 14-11 by half time.
In the first half, there was big discrepancy between how Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez and Patriots quarterback Tom Brady played. While Sanchez threw an impressive three touchdown passes, Brady was sacked five times.
That said, Brady regained his composure late in the third quarter by completing a two-yard touchdown pass to tight end Alge Crumpler. Then running back Sammy Morris ran for a two-point conversion, closing the gap to 14-11.
However, Sanchez made his mark yet again thanks to a seven-yard scoring pass to wide receiver Santonio Holmes which put the Jets further ahead, and further still after running back Shonn Greene made a 16-yard touchdown run.
Even before the final whistle, the Patriots - and their fans - knew it was all over. The Jets were just too good on the day, and now there is a better than good chance that the Jets - under the guidance of head coach Rex Ryan - will make it to the Super Bowl.
It won't be lost on NFL betting fans that many times this season Ryan has stated that the Jets have got what it takes to win the Super Bowl. And after Sunday's upset against the Patriots, he is one game closer to making that a reality.
