Matthew Jarvis is one of two poker players from Canada who are preparing for the Main Event Final Table of this year's World Series of Poker tournament.

Jarvis, along with Jonathan Duhamel, is one of the November Nine, so called because the final table will be played on November 6th - next month.

Between the time that he reached his November Nine status and now, 26 year old Jarvis has managed to earn himself a number of payouts in tournaments that he played in.

Besides the $71,000 that he won playing in a $1K non limit hold 'em tournament at Festa al Lago, Jarvis also won $100,000 in the $4,600 head's up tournament in the Canadian Open Poker Championship in August.

Mattew Jarvis spoke to the media shortly after making the final table and said: "I'm not so worried about the blinds getting around to me, but I do know that the pressure is going to be on for me to do something eventually."

"Thirty-three (big blinds) is a decent stack where I can sit and wait and be patient and find the right spots, but at the same time the antes are big and I don't want to be hammered too hard by them," he added.

Jarvis will come into the final table event with a chip stack of 16,700,000, which is considered to be in the mid range, compared to other players.

Jonathan Duhamel, who will be seated to Jarvis' immediate right along with Michael Mizrachi, is the chip leader in this tournament.

To the left of Jarvis' number 6 seat will be the aggressive players, John Racener and Filippo Candia.

Jarvis quit his studies to become a full time poker player.
