When 6-year-old gelding Rahy's Attorney romped home first in last Saturday's Bunty Lawless Stakes at Woodbine for the second time in so many years, his trainer Ian Black was over the moon.

The son of Crown Attorney was favoured to win the 1 mile turf race for 3-year-olds and up in Toronto, and he did not disappoint thanks to his sharp form and a sterling ride from his former jockey, Slade Callaghan.

The Bunty Lawless was Callaghan's first race aboard Rahy's Attorney since last year's Woodbine Mile, but the jockey rode the gelding to perfection from start to finish, proving to be no match for the other four runners.

At the start, Callaghan settled Rahy's Attorney comfortably against the rail and just off the pace behind early leader Guipago. Then, halfway up the back stretch he asked the gelding for more, and he was answered.

Slipping into overdrive, Rahy's Attorney took the lead and easily held onto it as he approached the line and, although his biggest threat in the race, Sand Cove, made a late challenge, he fell back in the final furlong.

The result is that Rahy's Attorney crossed the line first in a time of 1:13.45, 3 1/4 lengths ahead of Sand Cove in second, and 5 1/4 lengths ahead of Guipago in third, who just managed to edge out Mobthewarrior.

Said Callaghan after the race, 'It felt great. He ran really well today. He ran like the champion he is.' The victory boosted the gelding's total wins to 12 out of 34 races, and upped his career earnings to $1,919,412.
