The New York Giants have had their ups and downs this season, notably getting crushed by the Colts and the Titans to fall to 1-2 only to reel off three big wins in a row. That leaves them 4-2 and full of confidence and hope. Their opponents have never looked weaker. The Cowboys are 1-4, in a huge NFL shock, and have been unable to get out of their own way in recent weeks. And yet the latest Giants Cowboys spread favours Dallas although the line has shortened after money poured in for a Giants cover.

The spread opened at -3.5 points but that extra half point looked exceedingly generous and you'd be hard pressed to find a sports book still offering it. Instead the Giants +3 points is the best available, and while it looks generous it could well be a trap since this is a must-win game for the Cowboys while the Giants could drop it and still be in good shape.

The Over looks worth a bet, if only for historical precedents. The number is currently bobbing around 45 points, with 44.5 also available in some quarters. The Over is 9-1 the last 10 times the Giants have faced NFC opponents, and the Over is a healthy 6-2 the last 8 games that the Giants have played on fieldturf. Head to head the Over has cashed in 6 of the last 9 games between the Giants and Cowboys. So take the Over, that's all we're saying.

One has to think Dallas will win this game and the Giants will lay an egg. New York aren't that good and Dallas cannot be this bad, or can they? Cowboys by a TD and Wade Phillips keeps his job for another week, but there is no way the man can last the entire season. That's a prediction.
