The workers at Casino Regina in Saskatchewan returned to work this week after being on strike since June 3rd.

A new collective agreement was signed between the worker's trade union, the Public Service Alliance of Canada, and the Saskatchewan Gaming Corporation which runs the casino.

Details of the agreement were made public after the sides reached a compromise last Friday.

Casino workers will receive a 1.5% increase in the first year, and a 2% increase in the second and third years. A 1.17% increase will occur in the first seven months of the fourth year.

As a result of the end of the strike, the workers - including slot attendants, dealers and security personnel -  returned to work on Tuesday and the casino assumed regular operating hours from 9 am - 4 am.

During the time of the strike, the casino was partially open for business, only offering slot games.

There were no poker or other table games on offer at the time.

Another group of workers also began striking to show solidarity with the casino workers in early June.

The Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union members demanded a 5.5% rise in salary from the Saskatchewan Gaming Corporation, and a settlement was reached with this union on July 20th.
