Like most countries around the world that offer lotteries, Canada has a huge following for its various lottery draws and games, as fans hope to win large prizes - often into the millions and even tens of millions - with a few low-cost tickets.

Even though anti-gambling folks accuse lotteries of making gambling affordable to the masses, the reality is that lotteries not only provide people with the means and opportunity to win enormous payouts and jackpots, but a source of entertainment.

Most Canadian lottery fans would agree that lottery tickets no more expensive than buying a bar of chocolate or two, and while chocolate provides instant gratification, a lottery windfall is life-changing and would improve the quality of life for most.

Which is why there are so many great lottery games available in Canada today, and why the number of lotto players is growing all the time. Games such as Lotto 6/49 is a firm favourite, where players must choose 6 numbers from 49 plus a bonus ball.

Lotto Super 7 is also a great lotto game, where players choose six numbers plus a bonus ball from a pool of numbers from 1 to 47. It recently yielded a single jackpot winner who won $23,963,940.00. However,  this game may be replaced by Lotto Max

Lotto Max is the lottery game that has really captured the imagination of Canadian lottery fans, which over the last few months has yielded some mammoth jackpots, including a $50 million main prize (which was split) and 55 $1m Maxmillions jackpots.

In fact, for Friday's Lotto Max draw, another $50 million jackpot will be up-for-grabs, along with 26 Maxmillions jackpots. With the Lotto Max, players must pick seven numbers (six numbers plus a bonus ball) from a pool of 1 to 49 numbers.
