Incredible as it may seem, the $50 million Lotto Max lottery jackpot went unclaimed for the third week running.

Not only does this mean that Canadians will be flocking to their retailers once again this week in a bid to grab the top prize, but it will also mean that more instant millionaires will be created along the way.

While the big $50m ticket wasn't hit, thirty Canadians become instant millionaires after Friday's draw, through the Maxmillions 'consolation' prizes.

Whenever the Lotto Max hits its $50 million cap, the lottery corporation adds these consolation prizes - $1 million jackpots that are paid out over and above the big prize.

Since a whopping 55 Maxmillion prizes were not claimed this week as well, they will be carried over to next week. In addition, the lottery group will add even more Maxmillions depending on new sales generated.

In total, the Lotto Max will pay out a prize pool of an incredible $105 million next week.

Ontario was the biggest winner of $1 million prizes this week, with 16 residents making their own personal windfall. Quebec followed by a close 11.

The lottery corporation said that the one in 28 million odds to win the $50 million did little to scare consumers away and the group said that it had seen a 40% jump in ticket sales for this week's draw.

Perhaps the more realistic one in 600,000 to win the Maxmillions $1m prize was a big draw card to the lottery, explaining the frenzy.

Winning numbers on the main draw were as follows:

05 06 26 29 34 36 43
