The excitement in Canada is almost tangible as the $50 million jackpot for the Lotto Max went unclaimed once more in the last draw.

It is expected that the prize this week will reach a staggering $95 million, thanks to the additions of even more $1 million Maxmillions.

When the draw was held on Friday night, Canadians held their breath to see whether they would be the winner of the $50 million, plus the extra 20 x $1 million Maxmillion prizes that the lottery company offered.

But this coming Friday - June 18 - will overshadow in the last draw of $77 million, with a staggering $95 million up for grabs.

There will be an additional 45 $1 million Maxmillions jackpot prizes added and lottery experts say that more people than ever will be wanting to put themselves in line to win once of these prizes.

"We call them 'jackpot chasers'", said a spokesperson fro the BC Lottery Corp, Chris Fairclough.

"When the jackpot gets large, you see more people start buying lottery tickets."

With such a hefty amount of cash up for grabs, the $5 required to buy three games seems an almost laughable sum to pay, and even with odds of 1 in 28 million to win the top prize, Canadians are all for giving themselves a shot at taking home the big one.

While the big jackpot didn't pay out this week, at least 15 Canadians won $1 million in Friday's draw.

Watch this space this time next week - we might have a massive Lotto Max winner on our hands after all.
