It's Lotto Max draw time again and there is a staggering $30 million up for grabs as a Division 1 prize in tonight's event.

Players across the country are rushing to get their hands on tickets for the Lotto Max draw, one of the most popular lotteries in Canada which carries jackpots from $10 million to $50 million.

If nobody wins the $30 million jackpot tonight, the prize will roll over to next week and will continue to grow until a lucky player, or players, win the amount. If the jackpot reaches $50 million, $1 million Max Millions draws will also be held at the same time as the Lotto Max draw, to allow even more Canadians to share in the prize pool.

Lotto Max at ALC

There are many ways to purchase Lotto Max tickets, depending on which province Canadians live in. For Atlantic Canada residents, one of the simplest ways is to play at ALC.ca, which offers online lottery purchase services.

The ALC website offers players an online version of the selection slip found at retail stores, or they can have their numbers chosen for them. In each case, $5 will see players receive three sets of 7 numbers for the draw.

The Lotto Max draw is held at approximately 10 pm Atlantic time every Friday evening, with seven regular numbers and one bonus number drawn at random using a ball machine.

To win the Division 1 prize, players need to match seven out of the seven numbers drawn, however there are plenty of options to win smaller amounts too.

Prizes are awarded for matching only three out of the seven numbers, with 1:6 odds of winning any prize in the Lotto Max draw.

$30 Million Lotto Max Jackpot Win

Another $30 million Lotto Max jackpot win was celebrated late last week when the winners of the biggest lottery prize in Atlantic Canada history collected their check.

Gordon Collins purchased a $5 Instapik ticket at the drug store he works at as a pharmacist and promptly forgot about it the day after the January 25th draw.

It was only after people in Atlantic City started buzzing about a giant win in their province that was so far unclaimed, that the 69 year old's wife urged him to check the numbers.

Not one to become flustered, when Collins realized that he was holding a $30 million Lotto Max ticket winner, he simply tucked the ticket into his pocket and continued filling prescriptions.

"I had obligations," he said. "And after 40 years, old habits die hard."

When asked what they planned to do with the windfall, the pair said that they'd be buying a new Buick for the missus, and planning a visit to family and friends in Ontario. Gordon Collins may even venture on to Florida or Arizona to catch Major League Baseball spring training games!
