Loto Quebec posted its annual report in the province's National Assembly last week, showing generally positive figures overall.

The financial report, which covers the period from April 1st 2011 to March 31st 2012, showed that Loto Quebec's revenues rose to $3.658 billion during this period, while its net earnings were $1.285 billion. However, the corporation's lottery sales were largely unchanged ($1.789 billion) from the previous year.

While the sale of Lotto Max tickets slowed down a bit due to fewer big jackpots, Loto Quebec said that this was offset by the new Lotto Poker game which has proven to be very successful with sales of $88.7 million, as well as a growth in popularity of instant lotteries, sports betting and teleactive lotteries.

Loto Quebec's video lottery network saw sales of $998 million, and growth was seen at Quebec City and Trois Rivieres gaming halls (9.6%) and the growth of bingo sales (8.4%).

Loto Quebec Reports Growth in Casino Sales

With regards to its casino sector, Loto Quebec reported a 1.7% growth compared to last year, with sales reaching $871 million. An increase in sales was reported at Casino de Montreal, Lac-Leamy Casino, Charlevoix Casino and Mont-Tremblant Casino.

Loto Quebec's online gambling venture, espacejeux.com also reported sales of $19.4 million.

In terms of winners, Loto Quebec lottery and bingo winners took home nearly $1 billion worth of prizes, and almost 60 won prizes of $1 million or more.

Loto Quebec gave $30.3 million to fight problem gambling, while over $31 million was donated to good causes such as NPOs and the sponsorship of popular events.

Loto Quebec Moves Forward

Loto Quebec understands the importance of moving forward through innovation and technology updates. As such, sales were improved through an enhancement of products, such as the opportunity given to sports fans to place bets online from March this year, using a computer, smart phone or table.

The new Mise-o-jeu mobile application went live this year, and will soon be joined by mobile lottery and bingo games. Eight new Kinzo express rooms were also opened, and the network will be further extended this year.
