LA Kings Need to Win Game 6
NHL betting fans who thought the Los Angeles Kings would sew the Stanley Cup up on Sunday were once again disappointed when the New Jersey Devils won their second consecutive game to go 2-3 in the NHL Stanley Cup Finals.
But if Sunday's game showed anything, it's that the New Jersey Devils truly are worthy opponents to the Los Angeles Kings, who up until this point in the 2011-12 NHL Playoffs have dominated their opponents in convincing style.
LA Kings Letting 3-0 Lead Slip Away
In fact, they were en route to pull off a clean sweep against the Devils, racking up a formidable 3-0 lead. But then the Devils dug deep, refusing to roll over and die. They bounced back last week to make the series score 3-1 in Los Angeles, before hosting the Kings last night, and seeing out the game with a 2-1 win.
Yet again, Devils fans raised the roof of the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey when their team brought their A-game and refused to let the visitors - who are just one game away from hoisting the Stanley Cup high - get the upper hand.
While the Kings' back-to-back losses will no doubt be giving NHL betting fans who have backed them to win the Stanley Cup a case of heart palpitations, and betting fans who backed the Devils to win a renewed spring in their step, for all other NHL fans this turn of events has just added to the excitement of the season.
Can NJ Devils Tie the NHL Finals 3-3?
So with the NHL Finals going into Game 6 tonight at Staples Center in Los Angeles, ice hockey fans across North America and beyond will be glued to their sets to see if the Kings can turn their 3-2 lead into a 4-2 victory, or whether the Devils can tie the series 3-3.
It has to be said that whoever wins the 2011-12 Stanley Cup will go into the NHL history books. The Kings will earn their place for being the first team in the franchise's 45 year history to win the Cup, while the Devils will go down as the first team in 70 years to overcome a 3-0 deficit to win the Cup.
Of course, what makes this season's NHL Stanley Cup finals even more exciting is the fact that the teams are so evenly matched judging by the slight winning margins in the series so far, and that on any given night, just one goal can mean the difference between a victory or a loss.
