Lotto Max Jackpot is $50 Million Tonight
Tonight, Friday May 4th, could see one lucky Canadian walk away with more than $50 million in prize money.
Canada's most popular lottery, Lotto Max, has an estimated $50 million jackpot this week, as well as at least two MaxMillions prizes which add even more millions to the total prize pool.
The draw will take place tonight, but there is still time to get your hands on tickets, with sales ending 6 pm. Pacific time.
All you need to do is select seven correct numbers from one to 49 in order to win the main jackpot. For a $5 play, you receive three selections of seven numbers - the first selection is done by you and the other two are done by Quick Pick. These selections are good for the main jackpot, each of the prize categories and any MaxMillions attached to the lottery.
In addition, you can take an optional "Extra" for $1, which gives you a chance to win $500,000. Everyone is entitled to purchase up to ten Extras, which definitely make things more interesting when playing the Lotto Max.
MaxMillions Added to $50 Million Lotto Max
One of the main advantages of the Lotto Max lottery is that once the jackpot reaches $50 million, all additional jackpot funds are directed into additional prizes of $1 million. These are called MaxMillions.
On each Lotto Max draw date, a separate draw is held for each additional MaxMillions jackpot. Should the Lotto Max be won and not some of the MaxMillions, the prizes are applied to the following week's base jackpot. If there is more than one winner of a MaxMillions $1 million prize, the money is shared equally among the ticketholders.
