Cheltenham Festival Betting Odds Slashed
Are we going to see a repeat performance of last year at the 2012 Cheltenham Festival which kicks off in just eight days time?
Cheltenham Festival betting odds have been slashed by bookmakers on the top four championship races being run this year, and it could very well be that last year's winners take the titles again this time around.
When looking at the Champion Hurdle on Champion Day, March 13th, last year's winner, Hurricane Fly could win once more. Willie Mullins has made sure that the horse has never been in more pristine shape, and it will take incredible performances from the likes of 2010 winner Binocular to upstage Hurricane Fly this time around.
Similarly, last year's winner of the Queen Mother Champion Chase, Ireland's Sizing Europe, is favorite to win all over again. The race, which will be run on Ladies Day, Wednesday 14th, will be a fantastic display of power between the likes of Sizing Europe, Big Zeb, Finian's Rainbow and Somersby.
Unprecedented Action at Cheltenham Festival
There will be unprecedented action if Big Bucks wins the top race on St. Patrick's Thursday, March 15th, when he runs the Ladbrokes World Hurdle. A year ago, this stellar hurdler won his third consecutive title, and he is bookmaker favorite to take home his fourth. If he does so, Big Bucks will be equaling the world record number of consecutive hurdle wins.
The climax of the Cheltenham Festival will undoubtedly be played out on Friday, March 16th, when the Gold Cup and six other races will be held.
The Gold Cup will, as always, capture everyone's attention and bookies are offering evens that Sam Waley-Cohen's Long Run can defend his crown against powerhouses such as Kauto Star.
The second favorite, Kauto Star's attendance in the Gold Cup is still under examination, after the horse took a fall when schooling last week. At present, trainer Paul Nicholls says that the chances are "50-50" that he'll race.
