Trot Insider has identified a list of leading drivers and trainers in Canada's horse racing industry for 2011.

Jody Jameison, the driving champion of the world, has enjoyed immense success with harness racing in Canada, owing to which he has bagged the title of the top money-earning driver of the year 2011. He has been very successful in a number of multiple-stake racing events, including the North America Cup with a prize of $1.5 million, considered to the richest event in Canada.

Scott Zeron, the 22-year-old rider, has been consistently winning for the past 2 years. He already has 538 wins to his credit, having enjoyed success with a number of cross-country events, including the Ontario Sires Super Finals and the Battle of Waterloo.

Gilles Barrieau was quite unfortunate during the last few months of 2011, owing to a number of training and racing injuries. In spite of this, he emerged as the top percentage winning driver, netting a .464 average. Of his 452 starts, he got to the winner's circle a total of 133 times. He rode horses such as A As Glory, Diamond Coast, Charlottes Maggie, Obamanator, and Dukes Up.

Jeff Gillis emerged as one of the top trainers of Canada, collecting total winnings of $3,875,592 with horses such as Mister Herbie, Apogee Hanover, Frenchfrysnvinegar, Speed Again, and Mystician.

Rene Allard, Canada's top-winning trainer for three successive years, has 265 winners out of 991 starts to his name. Allard also emerged as the top percentage trainer with a .393 average. His stable included winners such as Strand Honver, who won the Masters Stakes.

Keith Clark is the top driver and top trainer in Alberta Downs with regard to money as well as wins. While Marc Campbell is the top driver in terms of money and wins and the top trainer in terms of money in Charlottetown Driving Park, Jackie Matheson is the top trainer with 40 wins to his credit. In Dresden Raceway, the top driver in terms of money and wins is Robert Sparling Jr., the top trainer in terms of money is David Menary, and the top trainer in terms of wins is Gord McDonnell

With such a talented group of horse racing professionals, there is hope that the Canadian horse racing industry will be able to attract more spectators this year, and thus bolster the country's land and online betting industry.
