$7 Million BC Lottery Prize Still Unclaimed
Could you be $7 million richer and simply not know it?
The British Columbia Lottery Corporation urged all players to check their tickets as one of the big prizes in the August 3rd draw has not been claimed.
A Lotto 6/49 ticket was purchased in Richmond before the August 3rd draw, and hit the jackpot when all six numbers matched.
The prize of $7 million has still not been claimed, and the corporation has called on anybody who hasn't run their tickets through a check to do so as soon as possible.
The expiration date to claim this prize is August 3rd, 2012.
One ticket which was sold in Surrey matched five numbers out of six, rewarding the winner with $260,000. A third ticket matched four Extra numbers and earned the winner, from Nanaimo, $500,000.
Nation Wide Lottery Game
Wendy Garside, an office manager at the Nanaimo News Bulletin became the talk of the town after she hit the 4/4 Extras and took home $500,000.
It took Garside and her husband Jim a week to check their numbers, even after the British Columbia Lottery Corporation issued a statement calling on players to check their tickets.
Recalling the big moment when she learned of her life-changing win, Garside said: "I had gone into Rexall to purchase some hair dye. When I checked the ticket, the terminal froze. I did a double take and started screaming and shaking."
While the couple have no definite plans for their money just yet, Garside would say: "I think a nice long family vacation is definitely in order."
The Lotto 6/49 lottery is a nation wide game and runs draws twice a week - on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 6 pm local time. Tickets can be purchased through registered lottery dealers or online.
Extra is unique to British Columbia and comes with a top prize of $500,000. This game is available for purchase with Lotto 6/49, Lotto Max and BC/49.
